Spoonflower Swatch

I received this lovely swatch from Spoonflower after a promotion on their website for free swatches. Couldn't believe it! Came by post in just 5 days via normal mail from North Carolina!

Yea, Purple and Cats... you can see the appeal.

Oh My Gosh, Moment.

Do you ever have one of those moments, you merrily buy something thinking you're getting a good deal. Then you receive it and just looking at the packaging you know you have bit off more then you could chew? Well I got some wool for a fairly great price. I am not sure if I just don't know how much 225g of wool is, but it was a lot LESS then it is in reality. Good for me, I got more then I thought but it was soo much more I had a OMG moment. In the package was a second package that says 200 grams for free! Which I hope it means that I got my second order for free shipping. Since it looks an awful lot like my second order. If it isn't my second order then I am going to be set for the rest of the year in wool. Geesh.

This is Shropshire wool undyed, about 225gr bought from Wooltops Ebay Store. This is a great store and it is the first time I can say my wool smells like sheep. It is inevitable it would and for some reason I find it better that it does (it is not the bad smell of sheep but that farm smell).

This is Extra Fine Merino Wool Sliver Tops dyed, (RED, PINK, BLUE, BRIGHT YELLOW, GREEN, LILAC, FUSHIA, BURNT ORANGE), about 225gr bought from Wooltops Ebay Store. This was my second buy... or so I think it is... I have to contact the dealer to make sure. (I am hoping they meant free shipping).

EDIT: I spoke with the dealer and he added 200 gr to my original 2 orders. So I have about 500g. Phew.

A day of deliveries!

So today I have gotten 3 things in the mail.

1. Shropshire wool tops and Merino Extra fine wool tops
2. A free swatch from Spoonflower
3. Confirmation on my Knit it! subscription, which is saving me £8 a month.

WIP: Spinning Lessons -- Dyeing Fiber to Singles

So I tried dyeing my fiber before spinning it... Well this is how it turned out once spun. I dyed some more to see if it looks a bit better. I think my spinning technique is getting better. This is one small single.

Yes this is on a toilet paper tube. But it looks pretty enough.

Close up.

Stuffed Bell Pepper

This lovely bell pepper is stuffed with pork, rice, scallions, mushrooms, and cream cheese.

Done: Skein Rainbow

Sometimes we all have to try out dyeing... I don't know what this will become, but it will be colorful...

Lyell McSheep

All welcome my official mascot: Lyell McSheep!
Helping me with my essays for University!
My second desk. Yup I have interesting tastes! Oh, and that is Phil Jr.
I get these graze.com boxes once a week! I love them.

WIP: Limoncello

I am making my own limoncello. I have made this many times before, I started in my Sr year of college. It is in stage 2 right now but I have pictures of it in stage one as well.

Stage 1: Vodka and lemon peels. But who is that on top of the bottles??
By the way, there is only Smirnoff vodka in those bottles.
Stage 2: Vodka infused with lemon and simple syrup! Each stage is 45 days long.

WIP: Spinning Lessons -- Single

I am working on a large white (undyed) single. Don't know its fate yet.

I think I am getting better.

New Books

So, I wanted to know about spinning. Just to make sure I wasn't missing some crucial information, plus I can't really draft. I still can't do it like they show in the books. I like my method and it works for me.
Very good for those beginning off with drop spindles.

Shows both drop spindle and spinning wheel techniques.
